There's a fine line between fate and coincidence

What does this phrase mean "There's a fine line between fate and coincidence?"

They're two words that describe different perspectives of the same events. If you have 1000 people in a room, and there's a lottery to pick one, you['ll wind up with 999 who see it as chance, and 1 who believes in fate/kismet/karma/the power of prayer/luck/the will of Allah/virtue rewarded. This will be true regardless of whether the 1 is rewarded or punished.
