"Genever" in Dutch is pronounced 'henniver' - and refers to Gin a popular recipe for which was from Geneva, another way of spelling of which is "Geneve".

Genever is rather good in the 3 Bottles (Drei Flaschen), Amsterdam. especially the Oude.
