: question: I´m translating into spanish a text about the clans of Scotland and England. And I do not understand the meaning of the following phrase, which I´d appreciate if you could explain to me: "a man spare of flesh but very large of bone". Thank you so much.

"spare of flesh" means thin, gaunt, without a lot of fat or sinew ... contrasted with large of bone meaning, well, large-boned. Tall, bony, angular.
