Pyrrhic Victory

Posted by J on June 26, 2005

question: Pyrrhic Victory

The reason given for the origin of this phrase is not quite right. Pyrrhus suffered unsustainable heavy losses in his victories over the Romans, he wasn't killed by them in battle. He is believed to have died from a thrown tile.
