Year of the Big Bees

Posted by Brian on June 05, 2005

My grand-aunt Josie uses the phrase "Year of the big bees" a lot. It's used to indicate a very long time, eg. "I haven't seen that since the year of the big bees". She lives in Essex so it may be a south of England thing, but she's actually from Ireland originally, so it may have an Irish origin. Can anyone help? Thanks!
