The Saying is because of a man back in the old western days named wild bill hitchcock he never sat with his back to the door. The poker game was half way through when " wild bill " looked at aces and 8s he was shot in the back and some storys say that the bullet went threw him and threw the cards some say that the bullet struck him in the back of the head and he bled all over the cards. What isnt known is what the 5th card was. thats how the saying Dead Mans Hand came to be..
