Sorry, no. I've enclosed a link to the discussion in the archives. It's a very old word with origins with Germanic origins from the Old English 'scitte'. You'll find the whole nine yards in the archives.
In general explanations that try to place the origins of words with obscure acronyms are usually wrong.
