: : : What is the best adjective to describe a beautiful pearl? Shiny? Glistening? Sparkling?
: : Lustrous.
: Source: www.mikimotoamerica.com/how_to.html, which is their "How to buy pearls" page:
: "Luster is the amount of light reflected from the pearl's surface. This is also known as the "inner light". Luster is both the surface glow, as well as the deep mirror-like reflection and refraction of the light. High quality thick nacre results in excellent luster. High lustrous pearls command a high price in the market. Pearls can have thick nacre but have poor luster. Dull pearls have a lower market value."
How about "nacreous" then. Or "margarine" if you're really bold.
