Grow your business

Posted by Lotg on July 02, 2004

When I was just a young thing (a couple of days ago - snicker), the verb 'grow' was associated with things organic. In recent years, it's become cool to say 'Grow your business'.

We used to say things like 'help your business to grow', but we didn't say 'grow your business'.

We used to grow flowers, and grow trees, but I don't recall that we ever grew anything non-organic. I have looked up a range of dictionaries, and technically it appears there is nothing incorrect about saying 'grow your business', but it does seem to be a recent abhorration to me.

Is this use of the word 'grow' generally acceptable? Or is it just a case of me needing to 'grow' with the times?
