: Have we discussed 'Bubba', the Southern US nickname, in the past? I can't find it in the archives but I seem to remember talking about the meaning and origin of the term. Someone tonight wanted to know if "Bubba" was short for something. Does this ring any bells?

Bubba = brother. Southern "baby talk."
