: Hello to my friends,
: Could anyone tell me what refer means in this sentence?
: Many lawyers *refer* to the precedent-setting case.
The lawyers look up or quote details of the earlier hearing and judgement. If the lawyers have a case similar to the earlier one, a judge is likely to follow the precedent set in the earlier case.
