The phrase means without clothing, nude, not clothed, naked even.

Had you asked the infinitely more difficult question 'what's the origin of Naked as a Jay Bird' I should have been completely flummoxed.

It's sometimes a real smart notion - and takes the waiting out of wanting - to enter the mystery phrase in a search engine or, if you're using the Netscape Browser just type in the URL slot and the Google search engine will do the rest when you hit the return key.

What's the Net for, I ask, if it can't be used to satisfy a long felt want; are they really still made from Felt?
