: I would like to write a story but use one of the phrases within the story or at the end. e.g.
: "Don't look a Gift Horse in the Mouth". Is there a copyright on these Phrases?
No phrase in common use is subject to copyright. Feel free to use that particular phrase with impunity, as it's a cliche with high mileage on it. Which prompts the suggestion, why not use something more original?
