: Do you know the origin of the phrase "Wrong way Corrigan"?
During the 1930s, Douglas Corrigan wanted to fly across the Atlantic in a small single-engined plane but the US avation authorities refused permission on safety grounds. He filed a plan to fly from New York to California but ended up in Ireland, claiming his compass had failed and he had flown the wrong way by mistake.
