: : I am looking for a good site that provides meanings of english proverbs. can anyone help?
: You have found it. Go to the Meanings and Origins section.
It depends a bit on what you mean by a 'proverb'. True proverbs are usually self eveident in their origins, often jusy common sense - 'a stitch in time saves nine', 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. If, however, you mean 'idioms', then that's a different matter. Try 'Max Quordelem's' site for lots of English language links.
