: My usderstanding is that it refers to the Australian outback. Many far out lonely places are called by this name or a variation of it........ although there is a simply beautiful and splendid living area in the red rock area south of Sedona, Arizona full of $2 and $3 million dollar houses -- and it's called Back o' Beyond. Lots of people would like to be in that particuar place.
