Porching

Posted by ESC on September 15, 2003

PORCHING - Relaxing on your porch. Dr. John Buchino coined the term while "huffing and puffing his way from Louisville to Shelbyville" on a bike. He "spied an old couple enjoying a cup of coffee on the front porch of their country home, serenely watching the world go by." Thus inspired, Dr. Bachino wrote a book: "Porching: A Humorous Look at America's Favorite Pastime" (Minerva Books, University of Louisville). From "Pull up a rocking chair: Doctor writes tongue-in-cheek book on 'porching,'" by Mark Coomes, The Courier Journal, Louisville, Ky., September 15, 2003.
