Thanks for these two replies. However, the Spanish version contains a gist: the devil's personal knowledge becomes more useful than his occupational knowledge with the onset of age.
Rather than valuing the benefit of personal experience, it's edge can be found in devaluing occupational experience, and (hence) the status of that occupation.
It has unique depth because of that.
