: Hi,

: Does anyone know what the phrase 'make for grim reading' means? Thanks in advance

To make for in this sense is a phrasal verb meaning to have or produce (an effect). So for example, if a newspaper article describing the effects of bombing on Baghdad is said "to make for grim reading", it means that the text contains details that are grim, or humourless and horrifying.
