I heard a phrase in a song that I had never ehard before, and wondered if there is meaning from another time or age. The phrase is "Slappin' the cakes on me". Thanks for your help.

Could the words possibly be "slappin' the cuffs on me"?

The phrase is a title of a jazz song that was
written by David Frishberg, a swing pianist. He also wrote "Blizzard of Lies". Below is a link with an image---Dave is on the left!
