I have always understood the phrase "A Friend in need is a Friend indeed" to mean that when you are in need, a friend who stands by you or who helps you will prove to be a true friend; not, as you definition seems to suggest, that a friend who is in need will, for his own advantage, seem more friendly than before. : Or have I just misssed something? : Congratulations on a good site. I look forward to exploring it. Typing "friend need" in the Search box will bring up previous discussions of those two proposed meanings. |
