The family was at home at the time and the bungling burglars didn't make a very good job of it. My partner and soon to be wife (aka plucky have-a-go heroine) wrestled with one of them and got her handbag back off him. As it happened the police collared them outside when they tried to run off, having been following them round all evening as they tried to break in to various places. Not third rate exactly but, as Basil Faulty said, 'not the absolute apex'. : Wow! What a woman! She sounds like a "keeper." I am glad nobody was hurt. A few year ago, someone broke into my car in the middle of the night, ripped out a car phone, and then dropped it on the ground, inasmuch as it was totally useless without the other half, still in the car. I asked the police officer who wrote it up why anyone would do this, and he said "there ain't no rocket scientists breaking into cars." |
