Take anything on faith

Posted by Miri on November 30, 2002

I would like to know the exact meaning of the following: "We can't take anything on faith anymore".
The whole sentence is: "the government doesn't have a clue about how to get the terrorism situation under control. *We can't take anythingon faith anymore".

to my understanding it is: we cannot trust words anymore.
I'll be most grateful to anyone who answers.
thanks - Miri
