: : Would anyone know where I might find a good definition of the phrase "conventional wisdom"?

: : Thanks.

: That term was introduced by John Kenneth Galbraith in "The Affluent Society" . (He may have used it earlier, but his 1958 book was where most people found it.) It boils down to whatever opinion on some issue is currently held by recognized experts in the relevant field, with the caution that calling an opinion the conventional wisdom usually implies that the speaker believes that the opinion is flawed. A more exact definition could be found in "The Affluent Society."
