: : Did anyone ever hear the phrase
: : "put your head between your legs and kiss your ass good bye"

: : we were talking about if we go to war with Iraq and someone said this if anyone know how it started or where it came from I would appreciate it!

: I always thought this came into being with the Atomic era. In an air raid drill you're instructed to duck and cover with your head between your legs to shield yourself from flying debris, but that's not going to save you from radiation so "while you are down there, kiss your butt goodbye".

That line was used as the punchline in a mock list of instructions for what to do during an air raid, published as a poster, I think, and probably in other forms.
