A different kettle of fish???

Posted by Ramon on April 09, 2002

Hi!
I'm trying to discover the origin of the phrase "kettle of fish" as in "that's an entirely different kettle of fish" meaning "that's another matter altogether".

The search engine on this site doesn't know it! Can anyone help?

All the best
Ramon
