: I saw a movie a little while back and heard a character use a phrase that went "... as a pike" (a simile, seemingly a colloquialism). I told myself at the time that I wanted to remember the phrase. But, alas, I cannot remember it!
: Could have been "dead as a pike" ..... not sure. Anyone know it? Or other pike phrases? Thanks.
"Freedom for the pike means death to the
minnow"--from Partridge's Dictionary of Catch Phrases: American and British, from the Sixteenth Century to the Present Day. That's the only phrase
I found that uses "pike" in the sense of a fish.
