"Put some salt in it"
Recently I heard someone use the phrase "put some salt in it". The use was obviously figurative, but I really did not know quite what was meant. Is this a common phrase? Does it have a general meaning as a metaphor?
Thanks. - PattyNot a common phrase to my knowledge. What was the context--put some salt in what? May be equivalent to "spice it up"--would that fit?
Yes, I suppose. The comment was made by a woman to a group of musicians who have not played together long and are just putting their ensemble music together. - Patty
