: I agree with the comments that this phrase involves some concept of fixity. I also associate the phrase with some concept of something on display. I am interested in the almost morbid or garish association of something (once) alive displayed in all its anatomical glory under/between glass. I know this association is a more specific, marginal, or loaded definition of the term, but is it within the range of definitions ot the phrase?

I'd have to see the whole sentence, maybe the whole paragraph, to make that judgment about the particular use of "under glass."
