: Any idea why "The Camptown Ladies" sing ('dis song)-doo-dah, doo-dah?

: I have so far established that numerous "organized" horse race/carnivals traveled the country in the 1800's and were peopled by the equivalent of 'carny folk' including 'ladies' (who were frequently of 'easy virtue')...so what about this doo-dah?

: Is this a substitute lyric for some solicitation of the Camptown crowds? Is there a meaning for 'doo-dah'?

The real story of the Camptown races is an unsolved mystery. Someone else asked, "Who were the Camptown ladies and why were they singing?" I went to an authoritative source, the Kentucky tourism folks, but came away with my question unanswered.
