Saw an interesting (and new to me) explanation for the "pomegranate" source for Pommy. The N.Z. linguistic transformation went from "immigrant" to the nickname "Jimmy Grant" to "pomegranate."

Wog is probably shortened from Pollywog, a grotesque dark-skinned doll named for a late 19th C. children's book.
