Seems to mean that an individual with an assortment of interests,intellectual pursuits, hobbies etc will continue to grow and prosper. That person is always moving--physically and mentally--in some fashion.

The roots of this tree--the wisdom, knowledge and understandings that this person has amassed--generate and nourish the branches.
