If you can figure out what it means, and it's not ungrammatical, it's probably correct. The meaning here is plainly figurative. I'm in too deep, figuratively speaking (that is, I don't actually mean too deep in water), and I'm trying to keep [my head] above [water] in my head (that is figuratively), instead of going under (emotionally). What's to understand? This is a song, after all, or so I suppose, where poetic license is often required for the sake of the rhythm. SS
