: Yes, nervousness with a touch of dread. I can only imagine the answer to "why bullets?" But there is possibly an implication the bullets you are sweating are an omen. In any case, I was one of the faithful viewers of the TV series "Sweating Bullets" (1991-93), which combined action/adventure, pretty girls, and a tropical locale. Lots of guns, lots of danger, sinister strangers all around. It's a common enough phrase, but I've not found anyone to tell me why bullets. SS

Beads of sweat the size of bullets, I'd guess.
