But I don't know what it would be. I call them country-isms. : : : : There's a billion books with these sayings. And I'm trying to buy all of them. Listed here are my favorites. I have a couple of "scholarly" ones in addition to these: : : : : "Mountain Range: A Dictionary of Expressions from Appalachia to the Ozarks" by Robert Hendrickson.... : : : Thanks, ESC. The books are duly noted. The titles are intriguing. : : : I've done a Web search or two for a site that collects this kind of stuff, but haven't been very successful. Has anyone found anything like these books mentioned, but in Website form? : : : - Patty : : I used to have a bunch of "Favorites." But we had one of those

I remember one called Appalachian Talk or something like that. I
couldn't find it but I may have a hard copy of those pages here
somewhere. Here's another site: : A Country Rag -- Country Talk http://www.geocities.com/~countryrag/sayings.html My Appalachia http://www.users.kih.net/~bunderwood/index.html On this site go to alt.appalachian threads > Old Mountain Sayings |
